Sisters and Brothers,

We are certainly living in unprecedented times. I hope each of you are doing well, staying healthy, and being safe.

I know that during events like this, as union leaders we find ourselves busier than ever in an effort to support our members' needs. All too often, we forget to take care of ourselves and those around us doing this work.

We want to, again, remind you that CWA is fully engaged in following all best practices in order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19. It is our responsibility to keep all of our Union Family as safe as possible. This is why the decision was made to close all of our District offices, as well as our headquarters in Washington DC, and instituted work from home for staff, clerical, and administrators. We have postponed conferences, training, meetings, etc., and moved to teleconferencing, chats, and video-conferencing as we try to keep our people safe, as well as those we work with.

I again, strongly encourage all Locals to utilize every resource available to limit any and all unnecessary face-to-face communication. This includes your Local office, as well as company representatives and their facilities. During this extreme situation, every engagement should be handled via telephone or conferencing using any available technology. If in the rare instance a meeting might require a face-to-face, then the parties should seek mutual agreement in either postponing or determining other possible options on a non-precedent setting basis, due solely to the COVID-19 event.

We are all in this together . . . let?s make sure we are doing everything we can to be safe!

In Solidarity,

Linda L. Hinton

Vice President

CWA District 4
